     康拉德对小说情节极为重视，他的多部小说体现出一种相对稳定的悲剧情节模式，人物行为和小说叙事因这种悲剧模式而获得意义。但同时，本书通过间接叙事形成双重情节，并利用双重情节对情节构造的本质进行思考。对他的小说情节进行综合宏观的研究，可以更好地揭示康拉德独特的艺术成就。
